Growing on the High Plains: Planting from Pots—Part One

plantsxx.jpg

Tune in to hear my experience of choosing what to plant in a pot, as I hope it will help you decide your own plan for Spring!

Planning for Spring planting can be a tricky thing on the High Plains, especially when you're trying to manage what you can handle as you get older. What new plants to try? What high-maintenance foliage to surrender? What stays? What might need to go? Today's Growing on the High Plains will tackle a few ways to answer such questions. Personally, I delight in ordering specialty options from Prairie Moon Nursery, and I have a few tips that'd serve you well if you choose plant delivery.

Years ago Skip Mancini left the rocky coast of Northern California to return to her roots in the heartland. Her San Francisco friends, concerned over her decision to live in a desolate flatland best known for a Hollywood tornado, were afraid she would wither and die on the vine. With pioneer spirit, Skip planted a garden. She began to learn about growing not only flowers and vegetables, but hearts and minds. If you agree that the prairie is a special place, we think you'll enjoy her weekly sojourns into Growing on the High Plains.
