Garden City Business Owner Killed In Suspected Robbery

Garden City Police are investigating the shooting death of a Garden City man.

According to a press release from the Garden City Police Department, at 10:44 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to El Conquistador Restaurant, 1601 Buffalo Jones Ave., in response to a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found Ernest Ortiz, 69, of Garden City, the owner of the restaurant, in the parking lot of the business. He was transported to St. Catherine Hospital, where he later died.

Police are investigating the shooting death as a potential robbery.

No other information is being provided at this time.
