My Fellow Kansans: S3 Episode 5: Slai Hung, Garden City

CORINNE BOYER / KANSAS NEWS SERVICE
A view of Garden City and its grain elevator.

One western Kansas resident's recovery from COVID-19 was made worse by an unpleasant health care experience.

Slai Hung plays a critical role in the Garden City ecosystem, especially during a pandemic. He delivers pizza.

But he had to stop for a few weeks, because he came down with the coronavirus. He describes for the Kansas News Service an interaction with a doctor that was like no other he's had since arriving in the United States 10 years ago from Myanmar.

Hung has cleared the virus, but not some of the lingering effects on his body and his social life.
