NPR's Tiny Desk Contest 2020: Call for Entries!

Feb 4, 2020

****UPDATE: Deadline for submissions extended to April 27th!*****

We've all seen how NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts shine a light on the power of music, stripped down and presented at the tiny desk of Bob Boilen, host of All Songs Considered on NPR.

They're cramped, but intimate. There's an audience behind the camera, and artists always react differently to the close quarters and daylight. But no matter what happens, the music comes alive.

Lizzo, J.S. Ondara, Rising Appalachia, Daniel Norgren, Yola, Jon Batiste, Sunny War, and Mandolin Orange: these were just a few of my favorite Tiny Desk Concerts from 2019. Presenting artists that range from emerging talent to internationally-recognized superstars and legends, the series strives to remove the distance between the art and the audience. But to its creator, it's more than that. It's also an opportunity to inspire artists from across the world to share their talent by submitting an amateur video for consideration. They receive tens of thousands of entries every year, and the winner gets their very own Tiny Desk Concert.

And it's now time again for NPR's Tiny Desk Contest and HPPR wants YOU to participate. Send in your submission, and represent the timeless talent we have in our listener region! Here are ALL the details, as well as what Bob Boilen has to say about the series. It's been a yearly tradition to enjoy viewing some of the fantastic entries received each year, so let's see a strong showing from our five-state region!
