Fed Vice Chairman Nominee Taught Bernanke And Many Others
President Obama has nominated Stanley Fischer to be vice chairman of the Federal Reserve. Fischer trained outgoing Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke, and he spent much of the last decade running Israel's central bank. If confirmed, Fischer would take over the position being vacated by Janet Yellen, who was recently confirmed as Bernanke's successor.

Police In Aurora Hold Suspect, Interview Witnesses
A gunman opened fire on the audience at a midnight screening of the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colo. At least 12 people are dead. Two federal law enforcement sources with knowledge of the investigation told NPR that the suspect's name is James Holmes.

Tunisians Fear Protests Scared Away Tourists
Tunisian authorities have condemned the attacks on the American embassy and an American school. Many people were surprised that Tunisia was involved in the violence following a film mocking the prophet Mohammed which was made in the United States. Critics say the violence is a wake-up call for the Tunisian government.

Chaos Reigned During Colo. Theater Shooting
In the Denver suburb of Aurora, a gunman opened fire in a packed movie theater where the new Batman film was premiering. So far, authorities confirm the deaths of 12 people. Many in the theater didn't register at first that the gunfire wasn't on the movie screen.

Jonas Mekas, Champion Of Underground Filmmakers, Dies At 96
Jonas Mekas survived a Nazi labor camp and landed in New York City in 1949. He picked up a 16mm camera and began filming the new world around him. Mekas died Wednesday at 96.
