GOP Faces Uphill Battle For Black Vote
Just 2 percent of delegates at the Republican National Convention were black. That's higher than the percentage that supported Mitt Romney in a recent poll: 0. And getting blacks on board may prove especially hard for the GOP presidential candidate given the tone of some recent campaign ads and a wave of new voter ID laws.

Increased Cases Of Polio Reported In Nigeria
Leaders from around the world are renewing their call to eradicate polio. The disease has been eradicated in all but Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria. Of those three countries, Nigeria is the only one reporting an increase this year in the number of cases of the disease.

Montana Democrat Faces An Uphill Battle To Keep His Senate Seat
Republicans retain hopes of retaking control of the Senate. They lost the majority in 2006, in part because of the razor-close victory of Democratic challenger Jon Tester in Montana. Now, Tester is the incumbent facing a tough challenge of his own against the state's sole member of the House.
