Food For Thought: Norma Pipkin, “History of Volga German”

Food For Thought: Norma Pipkin, “History of Volga German”

Norma Pipkin is a native of Ellis County, KS. Norma’s parents and grandparents spoke the German dialect and continued the customs of their ancestors, which influenced her interest in language and culture. She is a retired French and German teacher and has been involved as a lifetime member of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia (AHSGR). In 2002, she completed a Master's degree in English as a second language at Fort Hays State University. As part of the completion of the degree, she developed a Volga German woman based on her great, great-grandmother. She has presented this throughout the years locally and also at AHSGR conventions.

Join us at February's Food For Thought for Norma's presentation, “History of Volga German”!
