The first class is scheduled for May 18, 2023. Every Thursday for 14 weeks, the classes will feature a different art medium or process. Switchgrass provides a safe and nurturing space for all of our students in our large classroom space. Art classes will be developmentally appropriate by hosting a class for 3 age groups, preschool, elementary, and teen. The preschool class will offer opportunities to make messy art and develop their visual and tactile senses. Elementary students will be challenged with new art materials and given space to experiment. Teen students will be instructed in more advanced techniques to develop their proficiency, no matter their skill level.

Switchgrass art cooperative provides affordable retail space to living artists at low commissions. Switchgrass currently has 22 artist members and over 1,600 pieces of artwork at 208 South Main in Lucas. Art can also be purchased at www.switchgrasscoop.com and shipped directly to the customer. Lucas is the Grassroots Art Capital of Kansas and sees thousands of tourists every year.
