Sand Creek Massacre site seeking volunteers to help with increasing visitation

http://www.sandcreeksite.com/

The National Park Service is seeking volunteers to help with increasing visitation to the Sand Creek Massacre National Historic Site in Eads, Colorado.

AsThe Prowers Journal reports, the Cheyenne and Arapaho village was brutally attacked by units of the United States Army in 1864. The ensuing massacre of over 230 men, women and children caused a national furor.

Thousands visit the site each year and during the summer months, visitation increases dramatically, so the National Park Service is seeking volunteers to assist with the increased demand on a part-time basis.
Duties include welcoming visitors as they enter the main parking lot, providing orientation contacts using park maps, building rapport with visitors, and providing short, interpretive talks on the events surrounding the massacre.

Other responsibilities might include operating a cash register, patrolling trails and assisting in park resource management.
