KJJP-FM 105.7 is currently operating at very reduced power and signal range using a back-up transmitter. This is because of complicated problems with its very old primary transmitter. Local engineers are currently working on that transmitter and consulting with the manufacturer to diagnose and fix the problems. We apologize for this disruption and service as we work as quickly as possible to restore KJPFM to full power. In the mean time you can always stream either the HPPR mix service or HPPR connect service using the player above or the HPPR app.

Google recently announced it will be purchasing even more wind power from the Texas Panhandle.  The company’s goal is to be powered 100% by renewable energy.  Inline with that goal, the company invested $75 million  in the Panhandle 2 wind farm located outside Amarillo according to the Amarillo Globe-News.

Pattern Energy Group is developing Panhandle 2, which will have a production capacity of 182 megawatts, for the Electric Reliability Council of Texas grid downstate.  A megawatt is enough electricity for about 350 average Texas homes.

A megawatt is enough electricity to supply about 350 average Texas homes, according to industry estimates. However, the actual production of a wind farm is less than the listed capacity because the turbines don’t operate at maximum production around the clock.

Google also invested $200 million in January 2013 in Spinning Spur northwest of Vega in Oldham County.  Last fall Google agreed to buy all the power generated by the Happy Hereford wind farm in Deaf Smith County.
