KJJP-FM 105.7 is currently operating at very reduced power and signal range using a back-up transmitter. This is because of complicated problems with its very old primary transmitter. Local engineers are currently working on that transmitter and consulting with the manufacturer to diagnose and fix the problems. We apologize for this disruption and service as we work as quickly as possible to restore KJPFM to full power. In the mean time you can always stream either the HPPR mix service or HPPR connect service using the player above or the HPPR app.

A hemp growing “revolution” coming to agriculture?

http://dougfine.com/books/hemp-bound/

The farm bill passed earlier this year is big news for advocates of hemp. New rules differentiate industrial hemp from its cousin, marijuana, and pave the way for research on the plant.  Hemp is still considered a controlled substance by federal regulators. But some states are giving farmers the chance to experiment.

Author Doug Fine believes the U.S. is on the brink of a hemp boom. And he writes about it in his new book, Hemp Bound: Dispatches from the Front Lines of the Next Agricultural Revolution that explores the economic potential of industrial hemp in the U.S.  He spoke with Harvest Public Media’s Luke Runyon for this story.

The book's back cover includes a rave review by Willie Nelson.

As KUNC’s reporter covering the Colorado River Basin, I dig into stories that show how water issues can both unite and divide communities throughout the Western U.S. I produce feature stories for KUNC and a network of public media stations in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico, Arizona, California and Nevada.
