Graduation ceremonies are happening this month, and employers are planning to hire 11 percent more college grads this year over last. So the personal-finance website WalletHub has decided to conduct an in-depth analysis of 2016’s best and worst cities in which to start a career. The High Plains states fared extremely well in the study. Denver was listed at number two, behind only Salt Lake City, the top city in the nation. And Amarillo was listed as the eight best city in the United States in which to start a career, just below Oklahoma City at number seven.
Of the top ten cities in the US for new careers, four were in Texas, one was in Oklahoma, and one was in Colorado.
The study listed Austin as having the lowest unemployment rate in the nation, at 2.8%. But the citizens of Amarillo might take issue with that finding, as the unemployment rate in Yellow City currently sits at 2.7%.
