Some Oklahoma drivers have grown concerned about the structural integrity of the state’s bridges after last week’s 5.6 magnitude earthquake.
As KFOR reports, some Oklahoma bridges were damaged by the massive quake. However, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation insists that damage sustained was only cosmetic. The agency claims that all affected bridges have cleared safety inspections. Transportation officials, have tried to reassure drivers, noting that Oklahoma bridges are designed to withstand a certain amount of vibrations. Even so, a 5.6 magnitude is one of the strongest earthquakes the state has ever experienced.
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation inspected 180 state bridges after the earthquake. The agency says all of them are open to traffic and safe for travel.
