Next week experts from across the High Plains will meet to discuss how to protect one of the region’s most valuable resources – the Ogallala Aquifer.

Garden City is hosting the Ogallala Aquifer Summit on Monday and Tuesday at the Clarion Inn. The summit brings together decision makers including producers, policy makers, conservationists, and tribal leaders from across the High Plains.

Experts from throughout the region will share best practices, emerging innovations, research, and policies aimed at conserving water. Policy makers will also explore interstate water conservation approaches.

The Summit will take place Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning. An event the Monday evening will feature producers involved with Kansas’s Water Technology Farm program, a public-private partnership program that tests water irrigation technology on farms in Kansas.

The Summit was organized by Colorado State University.
