Recently programmers from five Colorado cities began competing against each other to create apps with a goal of putting to use massive amounts of public data sitting in virtual file drawers of government agencies reported Elaine Grant for Colorado Matters.
Cities across the country are working to use data paid for by tax dollars more useful to the public. The Colorado challenge comes from the Secretary of State’s office. The contest is to find solutions to help businesses find capital, located expert help and resources from Colorado colleges and universities, get site selection information, understand the competitive landscape, and find local business partners.
The competition is called GoCode. Coders are coming together in Denver, Boulder, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, and Durango.
The winners will be announced in May.
