KTOT-FM 89.5 serving the northeast TX Panhandle is off the air due to the failure of both air conditioning units needed to cool it's high-power transmitter. The air conditioning units are currently being replaced and other HVAC improvements made. If all goes well, we hope to have these repairs made and KTOT back on the air by the end of the day on Friday, 10/10. We apologize for this this interruption in service. In the meantime, you can always listen on-line through the player above or on HPPR's mobile app to either HPPR Mix, KTOT's regular programming, or HPPR Connect featuring all news and information programming.

Texas Runoff results could impact the Panhandle

texastribune.org

Unless there’s a Democratic upset Nov. 4, the Texas state government will probably be far more conservative, and committee appointments could impact the Panhandle’s clout, reported the Amarillo Globe News.

If State Sen. Dan Patrick goes on to win in November, there’s no guarantee he’ll appoint Sen. KelSeliger to the Senate Education Committee.  Seliger has made it known that he would like to be the chairman of the committee Patrick currently chairs.

Seliger currently chairs the Senate Higher Education Committee.  He was also chair of the Senate Select Committee during redistricting in 2011.

Only about 5.6 percent of the 13.6 million registered voters voted in Tuesday’s Republican primary runoffs.

More about the effects of the Primary runoff is available from the Amarillo Globe-News.
