Texas AG Threatens To Sue Feds To End DACA

Texas may soon throw a monkey wrench into the works of a deal to save DACA recipients from deportation.

Some relief came last week for hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants across the United States who came to this country as children, as President Donald Trump said he would consider a deal to let these so-called “dreamers” stay in the country if Democrats meet his demands for a border wall and work to restrict future “chain migration.”

But now,as The Texas Observer reports, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has told the U.S. Supreme Court that he intends to sue the Federal Government to end the DACA program. In an amicus brief, Paxton indicated that he believes DACA set a “dangerous precedent” by allowing the Executive branch to circumvent Congress regarding immigration law.

Meanwhile, on Twitter, Democratic Texas Senatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke noted that “79% of Americans agree that Dreamers should be allowed to stay and apply for citizenship.”
