New Polls Show Shifting Texas Electoral Landscape

Two new polls have revealed some interesting insights into the minds of Texas voters.

As Houston Public Media reports, a new poll from the University of Texas/Texas Tribune shows that 47% of Texas voters said they would prefer a Democrat in the White House, compared to only 42% who favor President Trump.

Meanwhile, a new University of Houston/Univision poll reveals that Texas is likely becoming a battleground state, in large part because of the rise of Latino voters. The poll discovered that 85% of Latino voters in Texas say they will certainly or probably vote in the 2020 presidential election. Latino voters are traditionally more likely to vote Democratic, especially in light of President Trump's strident remarks lambasting Latin immigrants.

The poll also showed that nearly half of Texans believe race relations have declined in Texas since President Trump took office.
