Kansas’ universities will see increased tuition for the 2017-18 academic year.
The Kansas Board of Regents passed tuition increases for state universities, according to a press release issued Thursday.
The majority of increasesrange from 2.5 to 2.9 percent for undergraduate resident and non-resident students. The six regents universities include Kansas State University, the University of Kansas, Wichita State University, Emporia State University, Pittsburg State University and Fort Hays State University.
The per semester increases are as follows: 2.9 percent for K-State and Fort Hays State students; 2.5 percent for WSU and KU students; 2.7 percent for Emporia State students; and 2.8 percent for Pittsburg State students.
According to the Wichita Eagle, the universities proposed the increases to the Regents during a meeting Wednesday. The increases last year were between 4.9 and 6 percent, following state government cuts to higher education.
