KJJP-FM 105.7 is currently operating at 15% of power, limiting its signal strength and range in the Amarillo-Canyon area. This due to complicated problems with its very old transmitter. Local engineers are continuing to work on the transmitter and are consulting with the manufacturer to diagnose and fix the problems. We apologize for this disruption and service as we work as quickly as possible to restore KJPFM to full power. In the mean time you can always stream either the HPPR Mix service or HPPR Connect service using the player above or the HPPR app.

Liberal, Kansas, Residents Enjoy Picking Free Vegetables

Residents of Seward County, Kansas, are learning to pick vegetables—and having a wonderful time doing it. The four-acre garden plot at Seward County Community College has become a place for the citizens of Liberal to gather and enjoy the summer weather. The garden, known as Prime Pickin’s, was cultivated as part of the college’s Sustainable Agriculture program.

On a recent Tuesday evening, small children lugged watermelons across the field, while adults hauled buckets filled with fresh cucumbers, green beans and more. The program is funded by a federal STEM grant. This means the garden can’t sell the produce—so they give it away.

The garden is open for picking on Tuesday evenings at 6:30, with Thursday set as the alternate day in case of bad weather.
