Baca County, Colorado, along with several other Colorado counties, are reporting their first cases of COVID-19. As of Friday, eastern Colorado counties reporting COVID-19 cases, and their respective number of cases, are as follows: Baca (1), Logan (3), Morgan (4), Washington (1), Yuma (2), Lincoln (1), Kit Carson (2), Crowley (1), Otero (2).
According to a press release issued Friday by the Baca County Health Department, the individual was tested because of symptoms consistent with the virus and because of contact with a person who from another area who tested positive for COVID-19.
The individual was then placed in isolation and will remain there until three conditions are met: it has been 10 days from symptom onset; it has been 72 hours of being fever free; and the individual demonstrates an improvement in symptoms.
Health officials say no other information about the individual will be released, out of respect for patient privacy, while a thorough epidemiological investigation, currently underway, is being conducted. That investigation includes notifying all of those who have had close contact with the individual, as well as conducting risk assessments of those individuals and monitoring for symptoms.

As of Friday, Colorado reported 1,734 COVID-19 cases, with 239 hospitalizations and 31 deaths in 42 counties. The counties with the greatest number of cases at that time were Arapahoe (155), Denver (312), Douglas (79), Eagle (170), El Paso (160), Gunnison (66), Jefferson (158), Larimer (67) and Weld (129).
