WTAMU Concert Band's First Spring Concert

The West Texas A&M University Concert Band will offer an evening of contemporary works and classics at its first performance of the spring.

The band will perform at 6 p.m. March 8 in Mary Moody Northen Recital Hall on WT’s Canyon campus. Admission is free.

The concert will feature “Radio Waves” by Fred Jewell; “Prelude, Siciliano and Rondo” by Malcolm Arnold; “Teeth of the Mechanism” by John Mackey; “Introduction” from Ballet Suite No. 4 by Dmitri Shostakovich; “Lighthouse” by Eric Rath; and “My Lyre Within the Sky” by James M. David.

Student conductors Chema Garcia, a graduate music student from Wellington, Maddlyn Worley Evans, a graduate music student from Amarillo, and Norrin Hodgson, a graduate music student from a graduate music student from Odessa, will be featured on the Arnold, Mackey and Shostakovich pieces, respectively.

Rath, composer of “Lighthouse,” is a WT alumnus and band director at Canyon High School. It will feature David Lough, WT instructor of trumpet.
