KJJP-FM 105.7 is currently operating at very reduced power and signal range using a back-up transmitter. This is because of complicated problems with its very old primary transmitter. Local engineers are currently working on that transmitter and consulting with the manufacturer to diagnose and fix the problems. We apologize for this disruption and service as we work as quickly as possible to restore KJPFM to full power. In the mean time you can always stream either the HPPR mix service or HPPR connect service using the player above or the HPPR app.

The best smoked beans you'll ever taste

Luke Clayton

 Howdy, Folks!

Today, I'm sharing one of my favorite outdoor recipes with you.  Give it a try!  You won't be sorry.

Luke’s Smoked Baked Beans

Soak 2 pounds great northern beans overnight
Rinse, draining most of the water off.

Add:

½ C sweet barbeque sauce
¾ C dark brown sugar
1 C onion
½ C jalepeno
Garlic to taste

Mix and simmer on stove, then place into shallow aluminum pans, put diced bacon on the top, and place into smoker for 30 minutes.

Funnel beans into sterile pint jars, filling to an inch below top of jar.

You’ll want a little bit of liquid in the mix, if you need more add it here.

Put into pressure cooker at 10 pounds pressure for 75 minutes.

Until next time, get out in the great outdoors!

Outdoors writer, radio host and book author Luke Clayton has been addicted to everything outdoors related since his childhood when he grew up hunting and fishing in rural northeast Texas. Luke pens a weekly newspaper column that appears in over thirty newspapers.
