Happy Birthday, HPPR (& Valarie): Special "Songbirds" This Saturday

While it isn’t safe to go to parties right now, HPPR listeners are invited to a one-of-a-kind, on-air birthday celebration this Saturday, June 6th from 1 to 3 p.m. CT – socially-distanced and broadcast right into your ears! Don’t miss a special, two-hour Songbirds with Valarie Smith in celebration of High Plains Public Radio’s month-long 40th Anniversary! Throughout June, we’re looking back on how “The Little Station That Could” persevered over obstacles and kept news, music, and regional perspectives on the airwaves—all thanks to your generous support. Plus, believe it or not, this Saturday is Valarie’s ACTUAL 40th birthday! (Yes, Val and HPPR literally grew up together.) To mark this good fortune – and odd coincidence – she’ll have limited-edition Songbirds t-shirts marking the event (for a $40 contribution). But get ‘em while they’re available! As we look back at four decades of your support, HPPR sends up the deepest gratitude and congratulations for an accomplishment few communities could have pulled off. THANK YOU, HIGH PLAINS, and Happy 40th!

Jenny Inzerillo joined HPPR in 2015 as the host of High Plains Morning, our live music program that airs weekdays at 9 am to noon CST. Broadcasting from KJJP in beautiful downtown Amarillo, she helps listeners wake up with inspired music from our region and beyond. Tune in for new voices in folk/Americana, deep cuts from your favorite artists, soulful tracks from singer/songwriters across the world, and toe-tapping classics dating as far back as the 1920s. Plus, discover underground greats that just might be your new favorite band.
