A jury on Tuesday decided Skiplagged Inc., would pay American Airlines more than $9 million for copyright infringement and 'ill-gotten' revenues.

Transport Workers Union Local 555 — which represents ramp, operations, provisioning and freight workers with the Dallas-based carrier — still needs to send the deal to its members for a full vote.

Like American Airlines pilots' strike authorization vote, the voting period for Southwest's pilots union was supposed to last for a month, through the end of May. But union leaders say the vote was closed early after pilots showed their support for strike authorization loud and clear.

The flight attendants have been working without a contract since December 2019.

Some industry members fear increased regulation after the airline’s debacle late last year.

The Southwest Airlines Pilots Association said the airline's "lack of discussion or commitment" to fix the issues that led to the December meltdown pushed the union to call for a vote.

Southwest investors are seeking damages for what they say is the carrier's negligence.
