Musica Variada: This Saturday Night in Amarillo

We caught a couple of opera heroes on the air today! Thanks so much to Mary Jane Johnson & Rafael Moras for stopping by High Plains Morning today to remind folks about Amarillo Opera’s Musica Variada event, this Saturday, May 11th.  It’s their annual celebration of a celebration of outstanding food and Hispanic artists in concert. It’s at the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts (500 S. Buchanan, Amarillo).

Celebrating the rich and diverse cultures in the Texas Panhandle, this season's Musica Variada features a variety of musical styles from classical to pop. This festival of food and song, held in Amarillo’s beautiful performing arts center, is an annual favorite of our regional audience. The dinner is at 6:30pm, and the show starts at 7:30pm. Before the show, enjoy a flamenco dancer and a local singer performing in the lobby. Then, the first act features Rafael Moras performing a selection of Spanish Zarzhuela songs, as well as favorites from French and Italian opera. During the intermission, enjoy dessert. Finally, the second act features the Texas Tech Mariachi. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind event, only performed here in Amarillo. For tickets and information, click here. You can also call the box office at (806) 372-7464.
