American Quarter Horse Association May Leave Amarillo

The American Quarter Horse Association is still considering moving its headquarters from Amarillo to Fort Worth.

As KAMR reports, the AQHA released a statement this week about the potential move.

The statement reads, in part, “Yesterday, the Fort Worth City Council approved a 50-year ground lease for the American Quarter Horse Foundation. This action by the Fort Worth City Council does not mean AQHA has made a definitive commitment to relocate. This is only a step in the process of the possibility of a move.”

The AQHA has been an integral part of Amarillo’s identity for decades, and many in the Panhandle would be heartbroken to see the organization leave.

In their statement, AQHA officials did acknowledge their appreciation for their Amarillo employees.
