President Trump's Former Physician Among Candidates For Texas Panhandle Congressional Seat

Super Tuesday is upon us, and one Texas Panhandle race has drawn some national attention.

That's because President Donald Trump's former White House physician, Navy Rear Admiral Ronny Jackson, is running for the seat and has been endorsed by the President himself.

As The Hill reports, Jackson is running to fill Rep. Mac Thornberry's congressional seat. Thornberry, who is the ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee, announced his retirement last year.

Rear Admiral Jackson has been at the center of his own controversies, after being nominated to head the Department of veterans affairs last year by the president.

During the confirmation process, Jackson was forced to withdraw his name after allegations of professional misconduct surfaced, including accusations of drinking on the job and overprescribing medications.

Jackson will face off against 14 other Republican candidates in Tuesday's primary.
