Wayland Baptist Receives Anonymous $8M Gift

Wayland Baptist University officials announced this week that the university has received an anonymous gift of $8 million, reports The Amarillo Globe-News. The money came from one of the college’s alumni, and it’s the largest single cash donation the institution has ever received.

University President Bobby Hall praised the donation, saying, “Words cannot express how grateful we are for the generosity of this gift.”

President Hall added that the money will allow Wayland Baptist to further its mission of providing a “distinctively Christian” education to students.

Wayland Baptist University was founded 109 years ago in Plainview, Texas, and the school now boasts 13 external campuses in locations as far-flung as Hawaii, Alaska, and Kenya. Among all of its campuses combined, the college serves over 5,000 students.

Classes at Wayland Baptists average 16 students and the University offers more than 65 programs of study, grounded in the liberal arts.
