Hi, I’m Tara Shaw and I’m here to recommend a Summer Read for the HPPR Radio Reader’s Book Club. I currently live in Edina, Minnesota, but I grew up in Baldwin, KS and am a huge fan of HPPR and their programming.

The town of Dumas sits north of Amarillo in the Texas Panhandle. Founded by a farmer and rancher named Louis Dumas in 1891, it’s known for its livestock, oil and gas industries as well as an impressive record of high school sports championships. But perhaps the most famous identifying element for Dumas, Texas, is indeed ‘note’ worthy.

Good afternoon, HPPR listeners, this is Andrea Elise coming to you from Amarillo, Texas. Today, we’ll talk about Simon Paré-Poupart’s biography, Trash!: A Garbageman’s Story. We’ve all heard adages like, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure,” or someone “trash talking” another person, or even that something is “a load of garbage.”

Composting is a great way to get nutrients into your garden, especially during the summer. This week, we’ll review the process of composting during the summertime, and how to let the heat help in the process!

Luke just got off the water at Lake Texoma with his longtime friend Bill Carey with Striper Express www.striperexpress.com, Guide Todd Hehalko, Larry Weishuhn, ask "Mr. Whitetail”, and Jeff Rice, producer of the TV show "A Sportsmans Life" on Carbon Tv and YouTube. The goal was to get on the water at first light, enjoy the early morning bite and be back at the dock cleaning fish before the heat hit.
