The case stems from a controversial 2023 lotto drawing that sparked investigations, scrutiny of lottery couriers and, ultimately, the abolition of a state agency.

Gov. Greg Abbott on Sunday signed Senate Bill 3070, which will also criminalize the online sale of lottery tickets through couriers.

The bill would also mandate a review of the Texas Lottery, which could lead to the abolishment of the lottery itself.
