Tri Global Energy and BNSF Railway have joined forces to create a clearinghouse for wind energy equipment east of Plainview, Texas according to The Amarillo Globe-News.
Tri Global recently announced that it has signed on to be the project’s first and priority customer to have wind turbine parts shipped in by rail to the Hale County facility. The facility is operated by BNSF Railway’s logistics’ subsidiary.
The undertaking is called the West Texas Wind Energy Logistics Center. It will serve Tri Global’s needs, as well as other wind developers in the Texas Panhandle.
The completion of transmission lines to population centers has spurred a flurry of wind farm construction.
The goal of the partnership is to reduce the cost of shipping turbines, a substantial part of wind farm expenses.
The logistics center could open as soon as April.
