KJJP-FM 105.7 is currently operating at 15% of power, limiting its signal strength and range in the Amarillo-Canyon area. This due to complicated problems with its very old transmitter. Local engineers are continuing to work on the transmitter and are consulting with the manufacturer to diagnose and fix the problems. Army Will Not Expand Southwestern Colorado Maneuver Site

The Army recently revealed it will not expand the 365-square-mile Pinon Canyon Maneuver Site. The Republic reported the announcement is drawing praise from area residents.

Area ranchers said banks have been reluctant to make loans because of the uncertainty of the Army taking their land.

Sen. Mark Udall, D-Colo., has been working on this project for months.

The Army said it will ask the secretary of defense to cancel the permit of expansion.
