Moran talks health care, education at Garden City town hall meeting

U.S. SEN. JERRY MORAN, R-KANSAS

On Wednesday, U.S. Senator Jerry Moran held a town hall meeting in Garden City, where health care and education were the primary topics of discussion.

As The Garden City Telegram reports, Moran said he that while he wants every American to have access to health care, he doesn’t believe it’s guaranteed by the federal government.

Moran also said veterans need better access to health care and that he is trying to determine how to make  the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs health care system work better.

On the topic of education, Moran said he did not know what the Trump Administration’s plan for education is regarding vouchers, which would move money out of public education into private and charter schools, but he doesn’t think Congress will agree with using public money for charter or private schools.

Moran also spoke about the many challenges facing the agriculture industry. He believes the Trump Administration will help farmers by curtailing regulations but expressed concern for the administration’s stance on international trade.
