Independence Day patriots rejoice! Fireworks go on sale today in parts of the Texas Panhandle, reports the Amarillo Globe-News. Law enforcement agencies are, of course, warning folks to obey local fireworks ordinances. That means possession, manufacture, storage, sale, handling and use of fireworks are prohibited within the city limits of Amarillo.
However, if you live in rural Potter or Randall Counties, you’re welcome to shoot as many fireworks as you like. That is, as long as you’re on private property and have the owner’s permission.
It’s also illegal to shoot fireworks along the side of roadways and in school, church or business parking lots.
While fireworks are okay in Randall and Potter, they aren’t allowed in Dallam, Hartley, Hemphill, Armstrong, Donley, Parmer and Castro counties. Those counties are all under burn bans.
