The B52's convey the horrors of "Party Gone Out of Bounds," and we'll join Peruvian Princess Yma Sumac on "Huachina(Enchanted Lake)" and the Buena Vista Social Club promises a visit! Guitarist Adam Gardino and Violinist Kelly Champlin will be performing Living Room Concerts in both HPPR facilities on the same weekend: Friday, July 19 in Amarillo and Saturday, July 20 in Garden City.

It's been a busy week for the U.S. Supreme Court.  The court has finished its year with rulings on three major cases:  affirmative action in college admissions, the pre-clearance requirements of the 1965 Voting Rights Act and the status of gay marriage (Prop 8 and DOMA).

HPPR welcomes Carter Sampson to our Garden City studios for a Living Room Concert on Friday, June 28!  We are located at 210 N 7th St.  We'll open the doors at 7:00, and the show will start at 7:30.  Carter performed at last year's Tumbleweed Festival, and this is her first visit to HPPR.  Don't miss it!

It's Memorial Day Weekend and there's an abundance of wonderful music to celebrate with on Open Range. Hi, Friends...While preparing this week's program I encountered a couple of CD's well worth checking out...With his brand new release on Rounder Records, Tom Jones reinvents himself completely as he confronts the "Spirit in the Room." Jones covers Tom Waits, Joe Henry, Bob Dylan and others as if every word were etched on his soul and each  note on this disc is right as rain.  Next is  an older (1996 ) Nonesuch Records release,  in which  jazz pianist Fred Hersch presents a dazzling collection of Billy Strayhorn tunes titled "Passion Flower-Fred Hersch Plays Billy Strayhorn" that range from

Today, I'm thinking about how the plants, in my garden, are similar to public radio on the prairie.  Some of my plants come from seeds, some are off-shoots of parents plants, some started as cuttings or grafts relocated from other gardens and plants.  Some are divisions, where I have dug up the parent plant, divided it, and then planted the "kids" in a new spot.

The HPPR (Kanza Society Inc.) board consists of 11 to 18 members, including officer positions of President, Vice-president, Secretary and Treasurer.  Board members must be current members (financial contributors) of HPPR and are not compensated for their services. 

Terms are for three years with service limited to two consecutive terms, though past members may be return to the board.  Approximately one-third of the board is elected each year.
