Let's get ready for the new Year by taking a drive to Lake Scott State Park.  Maybe the weather will let us try our hand at some trout fishing, and we'll take a turn on the lake in a canoe.  Afterwards, we can explore the ruins of El Quartelejo, the only Indian pueblo in Kansas.  Keep an eye out for wild turkey and deer.  No wonder Lake Scott made the recent list of Best Beaches in the USA!

Years ago Skip Mancini left the rocky coast of Northern California to return to her roots in the heartland. Her San Francisco friends, concerned over her decision to live in a desolate flatland best known for a Hollywood tornado, were afraid she would wither and die on the vine. With pioneer spirit, Skip planted a garden. She began to learn about growing not only flowers and vegetables, but hearts and minds.
