Amarillo education leaders at the White House

Three Amarillo education leaders are visiting the White House this week reports the Amarillo Globe News.

They are:  Russell Lowery-Hart, president of Amarillo College; Rod Schroder, Amarillo Independent School District Superintendent, and Clay Stribling, President and CEO of the Amarillo Area Foundation.

The trio are attending the White House College Opportunity Summit.

Lowery-Hart says AC was invited to apply for attendance when named a Leader College this fall.  The college was selected because of its participation in the No Limits No Excuses program.

AC is the first college to participate in the initiative.  No Excuses is a community-wide movement encouraging students to pursue post-secondary education.  /

Schroder says the effort is a philosophy with two tenets:  every student deserves the right to be prepared for college, and it’s the responsibility of adults to make sure they’re prepared.
