Dishin' Out for Dalhart: Food Box Enrollment—This Thursday Morning

Thanks so much to Tina Brohlin of High Plains Food Bank for stopping by High Plains Morning today to remind Dalhart area residents about the enrollment event for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) this Thursday, August 29 from 9-11AM at the Good Samaritan Dalhart (104 Denrock). The event will allow eligible seniors age 60 and older to receive a monthly food box beginning in September.

Thanks to Good Samaritan Dalhart’s willingness to serve as the designated proxy for seniors in the community, the High Plains Food Bank will be able to add CSFP boxes to the agency’s monthly rural route, along with surplus food.  Good Samaritan Dalhart is one of the 186 partner agencies that provide a safety net across the Texas Panhandle. Our network alleviates hunger for the 1-in-7 people across the Texas Panhandle who face food insecurity.

Eligible seniors 60+, who meet the household income requirements, can sign up for a monthly food box valued at $60-$70 including a 2 pound block of commodity cheese.

Applicants will need to provide one form of ID at sign up. Acceptable forms of identification are: Driver’s License, State ID Card, Birth Certificate, Permanent Resident Card, Passport, Military ID, Refugee Visa, Baptismal Certificate, Health Card

Applicants are allowed to self-declare their income.  If there is more than one resident in the home, applicants must provide names, birthdays and income of any additional residents to determine eligibility.

For more information, contact Brandon Landelius, CSFP coordinator for HPFB at brandon@hpfb.org or (806) 350-1430. You can also visit WWW.HPFB.ORG/CSFP for more information. To reach Tina Brohlin, email her at tina@hpfb.org.
