Whitney Hodgin
Civic Media Network ManagerWhitney Hodgin grew up in Houston and chose to make the High Plains home after she earned degrees in print and broadcast media at Kansas State University. It was a natural inclination, given her maternal roots in Western Kansas and the warm welcome she received. The High Plains have been good to her, she says.
Prior to joining CMN, Hodgin reported for the Manhattan Mercury, the Junction City Daily Union and the Galveston Daily News on the Texas Gulf Coast. She served as managing editor of the Dodge City Daily Globe from 2022 to 2025.
Although she is adept with “techy and non-techy” delivery methods, Hodgin believes the written word is the highest form of technology. With awards from Texas and Kansas Press Associations bear this out, as do her vibrant relationships with people across her chosen home on the High Plains.
A one-cat person, pickleball enthusiast, bluegrass fan and art lover, Hodgin can’t wait to expand her connections across the region, reporting facts with flair.
