Wonder Women: Chamber Music Amarillo Celebrates Female Composers TONIGHT

We were happy to get a visit from Lucy Tan and David Palmer this week, stopping by to remind folks that Chamber Music Amarillo's new season starts TONIGHT with a fabulous program "Celebrating Women in the Arts." The first classical concert of their 22nd season, The Heroic Journey of Life shines a spotlight on female composers—and it's one night only: TONIGHT, Friday September 13th @ 7:30pm at the Fibonacci Space (3306 SW 6th Ave., Amarillo).

Tickets can be purchased here, or call 806-236-3545.  HPPR's Board President Greg Rohloff will host a pre-concert lecture with the performers at 7pm. Tonight's show will feature Natalia Korenchuk, violin, Lucy Tan, piano/harpsichord, and Jayson Bishop, cello. The repertoire includes the following pieces by female composers:

Elizabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre, Sonata #2 for violin and continuo in d major

Elizabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre, Sonata #1 for violin and continuo in d minor

Amy Beach, Piano trio in a minor, op. 150

Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel, Piano trio in a minor, op. 11 (1840)

Jenny Inzerillo joined HPPR in 2015 as the host of High Plains Morning, our live music program that airs weekdays at 9 am to noon CST. Broadcasting from KJJP in beautiful downtown Amarillo, she helps listeners wake up with inspired music from our region and beyond. Tune in for new voices in folk/Americana, deep cuts from your favorite artists, soulful tracks from singer/songwriters across the world, and toe-tapping classics dating as far back as the 1920s.
