KJJP-FM 105.7 is currently operating at very reduced power and signal range using a back-up transmitter. This is because of complicated problems with its very old primary transmitter. Local engineers are currently working on that transmitter and consulting with the manufacturer to diagnose and fix the problems. We apologize for this disruption and service as we work as quickly as possible to restore KJPFM to full power. In the mean time you can always stream either the HPPR mix service or HPPR connect service using the player above or the HPPR app.

In her State of the City address this week, newly elected Amarillo Mayor Ginger Nelson praised the proactive spirit of the Yellow City.

“‘Get it done’ is part of the fabric of Amarillo,” Nelson said.

As The Amarillo Globe-News reports,Nelson spoke for about an hour in the Grand Ballroom of the Amarillo Civic Center, at an event that was attended by 400 local luminaries. In the address, Nelson touted the city’s low tax rates, low debt, affordable home prices and low unemployment rate. She also name-checked the city’s new Double-A baseball team, which will begin playing downtown in 2019.

However, Nelson also noted that the city had areas that need work. Amarillo remains one of the five most dangerous cities in Texas, and the populace isn’t as educated as in many other cities of a similar size.
