After Large Fundraising Haul, Amarillo's Downtown Women's Center Looks Forward To Bright Future

Downtown Women's Center

The Downtown Women’s Center of Amarillo has brought in an incredible fundraising haul this year, and the charity remains one of the most important resources for homeless women in the Texas Panhandle.

According to Development Director Stephanie Goins, the organization has amassed over half a million dollars in fundraising totals this year. Most of that haul was brought in through the group’s spring luncheon. The sponsorships and gifts the DWC receives will go towards helping women and children with counseling, healthcare, legal fees, food and clothing.

Goins tells HPPR that the Downtown Women’s Center wants to give the women in its care the resources to help them sustain their lives when they move out into their own homes. The DWC is currently finishing up renovations on its Haven House Shelter, and will soon add an 24-hour cottage for an on-sight case manager at its Abba House Shelter.
