Oct 13 Tuesday
Join us in an informal poetry circle to read, share, or just listen to some local poets.
On October 13 at 7 p.m., Dr. Brendan Stephens, the Jenny Porter Professor of English, will lead a discussion of Tony Tulathimutte's short story "The Feminist," at Burrowing Owl Books in Amarillo.
Explore questions of performative morality, relationships, and the complexities of self-identified feminism through this thought-provoking story.
Whether you've read it or are discovering it for the first time, everyone is welcome!
Presented by the Department of English, Philosophy, and Modern Languages in the Sybil B. Harrington College of Fine Arts and Humanities. We hope to see you there!

Green = talk to me anytimeYellow = talk to me during breaksRed = don't talk to me, I'm here to read!
We'll read silently together for 45 minutes and then break for discussion and snacks for 15 minutes. There will be 2 rounds of reading starting at 4:30 and 5:30. Come for one or stay for both!
Light snacks and beverages available for purchase, and our free tea and water station is always available.

Shumla Archaeological Research and Education Center has worked to preserve some of the oldest known “books” in North America since 1998. These “books” are painted rock art murals created by foraging peoples who lived in the canyonlands of southwest Texas over the past 6,000 years, communicating their beliefs, stories, and ideas.
Through scientific investigation, advanced technology, and digital documentation, Shumla works to preserve these remarkable Lower Pecos paintings and the information they hold about how ancient people understood themselves, their environment, and their place in the world.
