Beans & Cornbread Luncheon: Monday, Oct. 21st in Amarillo

Thanks so much to Joyce Knight for stopping by High Plains Morning today to share information about the upcoming Beans & Cornbread Luncheon, created in 1997, is a kick off for the Interfaith Campaign for the Homeless (ICH).  ICH proceeds go to local agencies that serve those who are currently homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. It’s based on the reality that one may have to sustain on a meal of “beans and cornbread.”

22nd Annual Beans & Cornbread Luncheon

Amarillo Civic Center - Heritage Room

October 28, 2019 ~ 11:30am - 1:00pm

Individual tickets are available at the door for $40! Tables are available through Amarillo Area Foundation. Just contact Kathie Grant at (806) 282-1014. All proceeds from ticket sales go directly to the fundraiser.

Not able to attend? No problem! Thanks to some friends at Xcel Energy, you can get a BROWN BAG LUNCH delivered for free for $10. Proceeds benefit the campaign and work toward the overall fundraising goal—so spread the word!

The keynote speaker is the dynamic Dr. Donna Beegle, who has a personal victory overcoming poverty and housing insecurity. Her speech is sure to uplift and inspire all in the room. Also, there will be several awards given out, and there’s a silent auction.

Last year, businesses and individuals supported the luncheon to the extent of $52,740 in net proceeds raised.  This year the committee hopes to reach its luncheon goal of $100,000.  The ICH continues the campaign with local churches to reach the overall goal of $150,000, which will then be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $150,000 by a component fund of the Amarillo Area Foundation.  The goal is to raise $300,000 to assist agencies who meet the needs of those who are struggling to feed themselves and their families, to keep their homes, or to find safe shelter.

This is also an opportunity for the Beans & Cornbread Committee and the ICH to say a special thank you to those local businesses, churches, organizations, and community members who have been supportive over the years.  The Beans & Cornbread Committee partners with Desperado’s Catering where, owner Richard Dyer, provides the lunch for the cost of food.

For additional information regarding sponsorship tables, please contact Kathie Grant at (806) 282-1014 or Joyce Knight at (806)376-4571 or by email.  If you’d like more information about the Beans & Cornbread Luncheon, or to schedule an interview, please contact Joyce Knight at your convenience.
